Paul is one of the world's leading authorities in energy efficiency. As manager of the research programs of New Zealand consultancy Energy Group, he played a key role in the development of New Zealand's standard for energy efficiency in large buildings.

He has an impressive personal reputation in the energy efficiency, building and property industries, developed through the provision of realistic and effective technical advice coupled with his central role in the development of major energy efficiency innovations such as the Australian Building Greenhouse Rating Scheme (now renamed NABERS Energy).

Paul has also completed hundreds of energy audits and is a founding member of the ABGR (now NABERS) Independent Energy Efficiency Design Review Panel. He has also managed a diverse range of projects ranging from benchmarking through to web resource production in association with energy efficiency.

Paul maintains an active interest in the broader context of energy use in the environment and society. He is also a passionate educator for energy efficiency, with a substantial track record of informative conference presentations and articles. Paul is author of over 80 publications in the field of energy use.

Dr Ronald Watts

Dr Ronald Watts has worked at chief executive and board level across a range of technology based enterprises and at senior levels in government. He is currently a Director of UK cancer therapy biotech company Biosceptre, and of the medical charity, the Wenkart Foundation. He resigned from his position as Chairman of the Energy Action effective 12 November 2015.

His management experience spans the software and telecommunications industries, and as a consultant he has worked with companies on strategy and fund-raising in biotechnology, utilities, food processing and energy.

Dr Watts has held academic posts of Associate Professor and Adjunct Research Fellow, and now works on voluntary projects training young people in Pacific Island nations.

David Rylah

David was a Shareholder and Executive Director of EnergyAdvice Pty Ltd, a leading energy consultancy for larger industrial and commercial energy users, prior to acquisition by Energy Action in August 2014 and currently holds the position of Trading and Pricing Director.

He has over 25 years’ experience in energy and financial markets, in both the UK and Australia, and was involved in the market design of the NEM at its inception, with particular focus on the price risk management framework that underpins the market.

In 1997, David was elected as the inaugural Chair of the AFMA Electricity Committee that oversaw the framework and documentation for hedging products and market design that remains in place today. In addition he was Chair of the AFMA Dealer Accreditation Board and the electricity industry representative on the AFMA Executive.

David has been engaged to provide strategic advice on multiple aspects of the Australian energy market, including; the Malaysian energy provider, Tenaga Nasional Berhard, on electricity price risk management, a Federal Senator on the Renewable Energy price outcomes and a number of Emissions Intensive & Trade Exposed (EITE) entities operating facilities in Australia. He is also a member of the Group Risk Committee and co-ordinates AFSL compliance.

Dr Lorraine Stephenson Dr Lorraine Stephenson

Lorraine has over 30 years of experience in the energy sector and is the founder and Principal Consultant at Lightning Consulting Services. She is currently a Non-Executive Director at Ergon Energy and holds number of other non-executive roles.

Lorraine has deep expertise and experience in climate change policy and strategy issues, with a particular focus on the opportunities for Australian business and governments to respond to the challenges of climate change. She regularly participates in government and peak body advisory panels and events, most notably the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) meetings and Carbon Expo events in Europe.

Dr Chris StricklandDr Chris Strickland

Chris is co-founder and CEO of Lacima, a specialist of provider of risk management, valuation and optimisation software and services for the global energy and commodities markets. He also has over 15 years’ experience advising senior executives on energy risk management and complex derivative valuation. 

In 2005 Chris was inducted into the Energy Risk Hall of Fame, and in 2009 was named in an elite international group of five by Energy Risk Magazine as pioneering quantitative analyst who has made an outstanding contribution to energy trading and shaped today's global energy markets. He has also co-authored and edited a number of influential texts on the topics of energy derivatives and risk management.

Steve has over 10 years in environmental engineering and has overseen over 300 building upgrade projects. He has been involved with a number of portfolio improvement programs within the built environment and notably a key role with the retrofit of Sydney Council’s property portfolio that resulted in carbon reductions of over 40%.
