Get to know your bill - Energy TOU

TOU stands for Time-of-Use.

Energy charges are billed according to the time period in which the energy in consumed. For energy charges, these time periods are consistent on a state level. The time of use periods are split into the following periods:

  • Peak
  • Shoulder (NSW and ACT only)
  • Off Peak

Generally speaking, the peak and shoulder periods are more expensive than off peak periods.

The following chart shows the time-of-use periods for Large Market customers in each state and territory.

Note the Energy TOU periods do not necessarily align with the Network TOU periods.
