Get to know your bill - Energy Rates
Energy Rates are the cost per unit of energy consumed and use typically expressed in c/kWh.
Your Energy Rate is multiplied by the consumption, loss factor and GST to calculated the Energy Charges.
Energy Rates are split up into Peak, Shoulder (in ACT and NSW) and Off Peak rates.
Energy charges are contestable. This means they can be negotiated with energy retailers. When negotiating your energy contract on your behalf, Energy Action uses its online reverse auction platform, the Australian Energy Exchange, to allow retailers to competitively bid on your energy rates.
